Over the weekend of 19-21 September 2025, the Lionello Bonfanti Centre is offering a vocational workshop entitled “Fondati sul lavoro?” (Foundations for work), dedicated to those who wish to discover or rediscover the spiritual dimension of their work.
“It all started with the need expressed by some workers at companies based at the Polo to find moments to stop and reflect on the meaning of their daily work,” explains Luca Iacovone, communications manager, “on what they try to achieve every day. So we came up with the idea of offering a ‘weekday retreat’ open to everyone. Not an extraordinary moment of spirituality detached from everyday life, but experienced within a working context, the Polo, during days that are also working days.”
The event, which will take place from 19 to 21 September 2025, is entitled ‘Based on work?’ “We wanted to recover an integral vision of work as a place for self-realisation and the fulfilment of one’s role and mission within society. In the Bible, it is often in the places and times of work that theophanies, manifestations of God and calls occur. This happened to Moses and to the apostles.”
The proposal put forward by the Polo Lionello Bonfanti takes the form of an experiential workshop, where reflection and meditation will alternate with guided silences. Accompanying participants in the experience will be economist and writer Luigino Bruni and Fr Guidalberto Bormolini, a consecrated priest in the Christian meditation community “Ricostruttori nella preghiera” (Rebuilders in Prayer) of San Leonardo (Prato), who will enrich the content of the spiritual and silent experience.
Among the topics covered during the three days: silence and spirituality in everyday spaces; work as a creative vocation and work as gift and fulfilment.
But who is this course aimed at? “The course,” explains Luca Iacovone, “is aimed at all workers, especially those searching for meaning, those in need of new energy or motivation, those who are now entering the world of work or looking for a new career path.”
