The Economy of Communion will be 30 years old on May 29, 2021. All are welcome to join the celebration which will be livestreamed from Loppiano, Italy.
The year 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the Economy of Communion Project (EoC). It is an important birthday that invites us to take a careful look at the experience of these first 30 years, and to scrutinize the horizon, to see what the future holds, starting from the new generations of young people. It is an important event for this reason that has been in the works for months.
The pandemic prevented us from even imagining an international live in-person gathering like the one at the 20th AnniversaryAssembly EoC in May 2011, which was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, or the 25th Anniversary Congress in Manila, Philippines. Back then we imagined ourselves all together again at least virtually, for a global event for reflection, celebration and festivities, on May 29th.
The 30th anniversary event is intended to be a reflection on the EoC’s last 30 years and a look forward to the future.
Starting from Chiara Lubich’s invitation: “Let’s never forget the poor,” which was the basic purpose of the Economy of Communion, strengthened by the passion that Pope Francis puts into this goal, and taking off from the stories of entrepreneurs who embodied this dream, we will focus on our way of looking at poverty, not of combatting it but being willing to touch it and embrace it, in order to really understand it.
Who can give us the strength and courage to do this if not the young people? They are the ones who can prophesy, so it is with them that we want to imagine the next 30 years.
The event will take place on May 29, 2021 and be livestreamed from Loppiano. Participation is open to all with translations provided in: English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, German, Croatian, Slovak and Korean. The program will conclude with a concert by the Gen Verde International Performing ArtsGroup. Local listening HUBs are planned where local pandemic conditions permit.
More program details will be given. Meanwhile:
